Coast toddler nearly drowns in kiddie pool

RACQ CareFlight Rescue is urging parents to keep a watchful eye over children around water this summer following the near drowning of a 17-month-old girl on the Sunshine Coast on Wednesday.

The toddler had been playing in a small children's pool at the time the incident occurred.

She was taken to Noosa Hospital before being airlifted by the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter to the Royal Children's Hospital at around 6pm.

She travelled in a stable condition.

The ordeal came just a day after a six-year-old boy died from drowning in a dam on a property west of Brisbane.

RACQ CareFlight Rescue encourages parents to maintain supervision of children at all times while around water.

Last year, four per cent of all patients airlifted by RACQ CareFlight Rescue on the Sunshine Coast had suffered immersion.
