Clive Palmer's advisor involved with threats: police

THREATS , loyalty to Clive Palmer and entreaties to "take one for the team", were all allegedly used against a National Australia Bank employee in one of the most bizarre cases of 2014.

Clive Palmer's media adviser and confidant Andrew Crook has been accused of taking part in a scheme which aimed to influence a NAB executive to change his testimony, after former Sydney Swan turned entrepreneur Tony Smith lost a $68 million civil case against the bank.

There is no evidence Mr Palmer was involved in, or knew of, the alleged plot.

Police charged Mr Crook, 48, and former police detective turned Gold Coast private investigator Michael Featherstone, 51, with intimidating a witness, attempted fraud and attempting to pervert the course of justice late last month.

Both were granted bail and both have indicated, through their lawyers, they plan to contest the charges.
