Clive Palmer no pew warmer when it comes to Parliament

CLIVE Palmer always made it clear he would not be spending forever sitting in Parliament if he was elected as a Sunshine Coast MP.

But his lack of attendance during the first sitting week is already attracting plenty of criticism, including from his neighbouring LNP MP Mal Brough.

Mr Brough told ABC radio this week that the job of an MP was to be in Parliament, where laws were debated and made.

"It's what we have. These are our forums, this is why we get elected so we can represent the views of our members in this place and change government views or add to government views or register our dissent on behalf of our constituents in the Parliament,'' Mr Brough said.

Mr Palmer has promised to be a full-time politician but says he believes constituents are better served by him meeting with people outside of Parliament.

Mr Palmer on Tuesday only attended about half of Question Time while the following day he jetted to Sydney and then Perth yesterday.

Ironically, he has called a press conference at his Palmer Coolum Resort for today to present his 'summary of first sitting in Parliament' as well as giving journalists an opportunity to discuss local issues.

What do you think? Should Clive Palmer be spending a little more time in the House or is he better to be elsewhere?
