Hooker busted after servicing 25 clients in a Gympie motel

A PROSTITUTE, caught working out of the Great Eastern Motor Inn, had serviced 25 clients during her week-long stay in Gympie.

Wenyu Zhu and her boyfriend Cheung Ming Wong pleaded guilty in Gympie Magistrates Court on Monday to prostitution charges.

On Monday Zhu and her boyfriend Cheung Ming Wong, 37, faced Gympie Magistrates Court on prostitution charges.

Zhu gained her clients after she and her boyfriend advertised her services in The Gympie Times classifieds.

The court heard Zhu offered a full half-hour service for $100 or an intimate massage for around $75.

A police Prostitution Enforcement Task Force contacted Zhu and met her at the motel for a compliance check, subsequently charging her and Wong with knowingly participating in the provision of prostitution and possessing tainted property in the form of a Nokia telephone.

The court heard while Zhu did most of the organisational work, Wong assisted by driving her to work locations, assisting her with booking classified ads and motel rooms.

He also provided security by waiting outside the room, following a previous violent incident Zhu found herself in while at work.

The court was told Wong's assistance was important because Zhu, a divorced mother of two, spoke little English and didn't have a driver's licence.

The court heard that neither of the Sunny Bank Hills-based couple had a criminal history and Magistrate Maxine Baldwin described their breach of the law as "mild" by comparison to large prostitution rings.

With the assistance of an interpreter, Zhu and Wong both pleaded guilty to the charges.

They were fined $550 each and in light of the offences marking their first appearance in court, neither had a conviction recorded.
