Christmas not merry for some
CHRISTMAS can be one of the most painful times of the year for many as unresolved family issues come to the surface.
It can be a time of loneliness and sadness as people are estranged from their families and have overwhelming feelings of abandonment and rejection.
Breaking Free is providing group workshops and counselling at Maroochydore to help people cope with these feelings.
Dianne Spencer recently established the non-funded community organisation to equip people with the tools and skills to learn how to heal the pain of past abuse and family dysfunction.
"The victim cycle will continue to control our lives until we effectively deal with the core issues and remove it once and for all," Ms Spencer said.
"We see the damage it causes through many of the societal issues we battle today with addictions, child abuse, depression, violence, high suicide rates and more."
Breaking Free runs groups for men and women.
