Centre lends hand

The Lowood Community Centre is still making a bit impact on the young people in Lowood.

Lowood Community Centre volunteer, Ann Graham said they do whatever they can for people that come in.

“Sometimes we have kids that come in that have been doing a bit of couch surfing and we help them with something to eat,” she said.

“The most important thing for us here is that this is a friendly place.

“People can just drop in and have a safe place to be.”

The facilities at the centre prove themselves to beneficial to visitors.

“The computers are fairly regularly used for email and photos and that sort of thing,” Mrs Graham said

Young mother, Tammy Eggleton said the centre has helped her a lot.

“I come here as often as I can, and I really like it because it gives me a chance to get out of the house and talk to people,” she said.

“When you have somewhere to go and other people to talk to it makes a hell of a difference.

“There are things that I wouldn't tell my Mum, but then I can come here and talk to Ann about anything and that really helps.”

Tammy is new to Lowood and said the Community Centre and Ann have been wonderful, getting her settled in a new town.

“She is an awesome lady,” Tammy said.
