WHILE Santa is packing his sleigh and checking his list of who's nice and naughty one last time, Australian families will be celebrating the holiday with a long-held tradition - Carols by Candlelight.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the much-loved event, broadcast live from Melbourne's Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

Today hosts Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson once again host the magical evening of songs, stories and good cheer.

Carols by Candlelight - Nine/WIN - Monday at 8pm

Rachael Leahcar will be making her first appearance as the Carols ambassador.

The Voice finalist is looking forward to fulfilling a long-held dream on the night.

"Carols by Candlelight has always been one of my favourite times of the year," she said.

"Ever since I was a little girl I've wanted to perform on the Carols stage and this year my wish comes true."

The annual concert will feature Christmas carols sung by Leahcar's fellow Voice finalists Sarah de Bono and Darren Percival, Tim Campbell, Anthony Callea, Legally Blonde The Musical stars Rob Mills and Lucy Durack, David Hobson, Shane Jacobson and Marina Prior, who is celebrating her 21st year as a Carols performer.

There will also be performances by the cast members of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, the Australian Girls' Choir, National Boys Choir, the Legends of Rock and The Chantoozies.

The star-studded line-up is rounded out by Denis Walter, Lisa McCune, Silvie Paladino and, for the kids, Hi-5.
