CHRISTMAS will come early to Laidley, with the Community Christmas Carnival to be held tonight.

Organised by the Laidley Show Society, the event will start at 5pm at the Laidley Showgrounds.

One of the activities on the night will involve raising funds for charity using a dunking machine.

The show society asked local councillors if they would place themselves in the hot seat or, in this case, the wet seat.

For a gold coin, people are able to come and drench local members.

There will also be free lollies and ice blocks for all the kids from Santa, who will be in the main ring from about 7.45pm.

The pig races have been sponsored by businesses in town, and a trophy will go to the winning business.

There will be rides, raffles, food and entertainment to keep everyone busy until the ute light show in the main ring at 7.30pm.

The fireworks will be between 8 and 8.30pm.
