Candidate says ‘thanks’

LNP candidate for Wright in the upcoming federal elections, Hajnal Ban hosted an afternoon tea at the Laidley Bowls Club on Thursday for members of the Laidley RSL Sub-branch and the Vietnam Veterans Federation.

Ms Ban said, in the lead-up to Anzac Day, she wanted to thank all ex-servicemen and women for their contribution to preserving the Australian way of life.

“I’d like to conduct similar functions to this each year as we approach Anzac Day,” she said.

“Generations such as mine are the ones who are now reaping the benefits of what our veterans did in the past.

“It is up to us to ensure the Anzac spirit is kept alive.”

In introducing Ms Ban, Member for Lockyer Ian Rickuss said she was already the effective member for Wright.

“The fact is, under the electoral reshuffle, sitting member Shayne Neumann will remain in the seat of Blair,” he said.

Ms Ban was elected to the Beaudesert Shire Council in 2004 before it was amalgamated into Logan City Council. She was re-elected in 2008.
