Bus assault sentence to be appealed by Attorney-General
ATTORNEY-GENERAL and Minister for Justice Jarrod Bleijie says he will appeal the sentence of a woman who assaulted a visually impaired man on a Gold Coast bus.
21-year-old Larna Janet Watmough was sentenced to two months' jail, wholly suspended, and 12 months' probation in the Southport Magistrates Court after she assaulted a 11-year-old man while they were riding on the bus.
The Attorney-General's appeal is on the grounds that the sentence is manifestly inadequate and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions will act on his behalf in the District Court.
