FORMER Queensland Government minister Bruce Flegg is suing his former media adviser for defamation.

It follows Dr Flegg's resignation as Housing Minister in November after Graham Hallett used a media conference to make allegations.

Now a backbencher, the Member for the Brisbane seat of Moggill filed the claim with the Supreme Court on Tuesday through Brisbane law firm Cooper Grace Ward.

Dr Flegg told ABC Radio on Friday he wanted to clear his name against accusation that he was an unfit person.

"They've come from a person who enjoyed my generosity and support more than probably anyone else in Queensland apart from my own family."
