Brown signing good news for Roar

AFTER winning its past two games, the good vibe in the Brisbane Roar camp has continued, with the re-signing of talented young defender Corey Brown.

Brown has re-committed for another three A-League seasons, which is a big boost for the club ahead of its clash against the Mariners at Central Coast Stadium tonight. After joining the club as a full-time National Youth League player in 2011, the left-back signed his first senior contract in January 2013.

"I'm a Brisbane boy, I've got a lot of passion for this club, so it's great to sign for the next three years," Brown (pictured) said.

The 21-year-old has football in his blood, with his father Rod being a former Socceroo.

Brown is a current member of Australia's under-23 team and said he thought the Queensland club would provide the ideal environment for him to continue to progress as a footballer.

"Matt McKay and Ivan Franjic have shown that if you're performing well in the A-League and at this club, you can get call-ups to the national team," he said.

Mariners coach Phil Moss is likely to stick with youngsters Liam Rose and Anthony Kalik, who made their debuts off the bench in their team's 2-1 victory over Adelaide United last weekend.

The pair, who were graduates of the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, have been on the fringe of selection since linking up with the squad this season.

"It was a huge moment. Definitely one I'll never forget," Rose said.
