Broomstick wielding bandit holds up pasta shop

POLICE are this morning searching for a young man who used a broomstick in an attempted robbery of a Tor St food outlet.

Officers from Toowoomba Child Protection Investigation Unit and Toowoomba Criminal Investigation Branch have analysed CCTV of the incident, which occurred at Pasta Place about 5.30pm yesterday.

Child protection investigation unit officer-in-charge Detective Senior Sergeant Matt Howard said the male was holding what appeared to be a broom handle when he demanded money from the attendant.

Det. Snr Sgt Howard said the young man fled the scene empty handed.


The police dog squad was called but the animals were not able to track the offender.
