British rockers Muse give Brisbane a night to remember

THE last time I saw Muse was back in 2007 at the Big Day Out and the English rock band have just gotten better with age.

While the BDO has its place, there is nothing like a show at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre and Tuesday night's concert was prime example of this.

Aussie rockers Birds of Tokyo (who I last saw at the BDO in 2011) opened the show in fine form playing hit favourites Plans, This Fire and Wild at Heart.

The best part was for the last song, Lanterns where everyone turned on their phone light and in the darkness of the stadium looked like thousands of stars blinking through. Amazing.

But Muse was definitely the drawcard of the night.

With a massive electronic set design, this was definitely a notch up from the BDO and you can see why the boys won Best Act In The World at 2012's Q Awards.

A pyramid of screens descended onto the stage and the band was revealed to The 2nd Law: Isolated System from last year's album The 2nd Law.

The gig was filled with spectacular visual effects of video and lasers and even a spectacular smoke show.

Muse of course played several songs from their latest album including Supremacy, Madness, Panic Station, Follow Me and The 2nd Law: Unsustainable.

But crowd favourites included songs from 2006s popular Black Holes and Revelations album like Supermassive Black Hole and Knights of Cydonia as well as 2009s The Resistance - Uprising, Resistance, Hysteria and Undisclosed Desires.

And it wouldn't be a gig without an encore of Starlight (my favourite Muse song) followed by Survival.

Now we just have to wait for the band's seventh studio album rumoured for release in 2015.
