Bremer Vale Heifer to be raffled

BIDDERS at the Laidley and District Brahman Breeders' 13th Annual Invitation Female sale on January 15 have the chance to win an impressive Hudgins blood heifer from Mike and Jenelle Peters' Bremer Vale stud, Mt Walker.

Only people holding a bidder's card at the sale will be eligible to win the heifer, and tickets are available for $10 each from Wayne Pitkin on 0407 693 296 or 5466 4340 (after hours) or by emailing pitana@skymesh.com.au or from Tony Zischke on 0428 976 785 or creeksidenursery@bigpond.com

Mr Zischke said only 100 tickets in the led heifer were being offered, with a limit of five tickets per buyer, and all proceeds from the raffle would go to the CareFlight charity.

“If for any reason the winner of the heifer does not want to retain her, then there is provision to auction the heifer at the sale, with all proceeds going to the lucky winner,” he said.

The Invitation Female Sale starts at Laidley Saleyards at 10am on January 15 and will offer 76 lots from 18 South Queensland studs.

Lots can be viewed at a pre-sale barbecue at the saleyards on Friday, January 14, from 6pm.

At last year's sale the top price of $3250 was achieved by the Miller family's Milldale stud, Mt Whitestone, for Cow and calf package, Milldale Summer 1105.

The Yenda Wentworth daughter was purchased by NSW buyers Peter Brooks and Colin Tinks, BT stud, Dubbo.

Milldale has catalogued five females for the 2011 sale, also offering 10 straws of semen from Yenda Wentworth.

Mike and Jenelle Peters, who generously donated the raffle heifer, have catalogued seven heifers, including the first two daughters of Bremer Vale Boss Manso 117, who sold for $35,000 to Ron and Daphne Kirk, Yenda stud at the 2008 Rockhampton Brahman Week Sale.

Mr Peters said the stud was awaiting the birth of more than 50 IVF calves in December and January, by leading sires JDH Mr Boswick Manso (imp), Lancefield Billionaire and JDH Lincoln De Manso (imp).

“With our recent purchase of JDH Leberation 79/1, a full American bull with the much sought after JDH Sir Liberty bloodlines, we are hoping to produce quality progeny that have a sustainable future in the Brahman stud Industry,” Mr Peters said.

As well as offering quality registered females, the 2011 Laidley sale has catalogued five bulls from Shilla Park, Laramee, Graadu, L Vee and Bremer Vale studs, with bloodlines including Lancefield Signature, FBC M Mantra and JDH Casa Grande Manso (imp).

Organisers thank their main sponsor Bremer Stock Feeds Laidley, along with Allflex ear tags, Barnyard Vet Minden, On Farm Breeding Services and Rolly Voss from Voss Livestock Carriers for their contributions to the sale.

Bremer Vale Brahmans

Mike and Jenelle Peters of Bremer Vale Brahmans located at Mount Walker have been registered breeders since 1999, but have been breeding Brahmans for more than 20 years.

“We strive to improve our genetics through our artificial breeding and embryo transplanting programs, choosing only top quality Australian and American Bulls,” Jenelle said.

Over the past few years, Mr and Mrs Peters have made a point of purchasing high quality females.

“Our choice bulls are sold at Brahman Week, in only our second year as vendors at Rockhampton our highlight was selling (Bremer Vale Boss Manso 117 et) to Ron and Daphne Kirk Yenda Stud for $35,000 with our bulls averaging $10,500,” Mrs Peters said.

“As we are always improving our genetics we have limited our female sales,” Jenelle said.

“Those chosen have been predominately sold privately and through the Laidley and District Female sale.

“We have nominated seven young females for the January sale this year, and two of these heifers are sired by Bremer Vale Boss Manso 117, the first of his daughters offered for sale.”

Mike and Jenelle Peters are proud to donate a full Hudgins heifer for the Laidley Brahman Breeders Sale on January 15.
