Boys charged over car attack
AN ELDERLY man has been left shaken after two children allegedly tried to rob him in Alexandra Park.
Bundaberg Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Senior Sergeant Joe Hildred said the two boys - aged 14 and 15 - approached the 71-year-old man, who was about to drive away from the park shortly before 6.30pm on Thursday.
Det Snr Sgt Hildred said the boys approached the driver and demanded money.
"The victim refused and the offenders allegedly started throwing punches, trying to hit the victim," he said.
"The victim has wound up the window and punches have struck the glass."
Det Snr Sgt Hildred said one of the boys then allegedly jumped onto the bonnet of the car, while the other allegedly opened the rear side door on the driver's side.
"(He) allegedly entered the victim's vehicle and demanded further money," he said.
"The victim has started to yell for the police, and the suspects have exited the vehicle and begun kicking the doors of the vehicle before walking away."
It is believed the elderly man did not sustain any injuries during the incident.
Det Snr Sgt Hildred said officers arrived a short time later and arrested the youths nearby.
Their bail was refused by police.
