Title defence slips from Bowditch
STEVEN Bowditch's defence of his New South Wales PGA Championship title ended when he finished 14th yesterday.
The Peregian Beach golfer carded a final-round, three-under-par 67 to finish on seven under par, six strokes behind victor Matt Guyatt at Wollongong Golf Club.
Entering the final round, nine players were in contention and it stayed crowded at the top of the leaderboard all day.
Guyatt shot an eight-under 62, the round of the day, and walked off the 18th green as clubhouse leader.
He faced a nervous wait before finishing a shot ahead of Andre Stolz, Peter O'Malley, Kurt Barnes and overnight leader James McLean.
