THIS story was seemingly triggered by the life of author Enid Blyton, who has two daughters with very different views on her mothering.

That said it is an imaginative and intricate work of detective fiction.

It is set in Tasmania which certainly evokes a beautiful and poignant setting.

Sadie inherits Poet's Cottage where, according to local lore, poets have always lived.

It is rumoured to be haunted and Sadie's grandmother was murdered there and her murderer never found.

Sadie's mother always portrayed her mother as loving but her aunt has a very different tale to tell.

Sadie and her daughter, Betty, are confronted by strange happenings in the cottage and these galvanise them into finding out the truth about what occurred there.

Their quest exposes the murderer and is far more grisly than the rumoured account.

This is a thoroughly captivating mystery tale.
