Bonville proves a fair way to spend a holiday

SUMMER holidays have seen a large increase in the number of visitors to Bonville Golf Resort.

Rain didn't discourage golfers with executive general manager Brad Daymond revealing overall rounds for December were up by 15% on 2013 figures.

"This capped off an amazing year with over 21,000 visitor rounds to complement 10,000 member rounds," he said.

"The majority of visitors come from the Sydney-Newcastle or Gold Coast-Brisbane with about 4% internationals with no particular country dominating the numbers."

Bonville Golf Resort is a different model to other golf courses in the region.

It is privately owned and Bonville is a true destination with the vast majority of the visitor numbers attending the Coffs Coast specifically to play the golf course.

In another fillip for the Resort, Bonville has returned to the top 10 in the Golf Australia Magazine's list of the top-100 Public Access Courses in Australia.

Each January, the publication voted as Australia's most-read golf magazine, publishes its list of what the judges consider the best courses.

Bonville has been in the top-10 many times before but had slipped just outside in the past couple of years.

This year's list sees the local golfing gem return to the coveted top-10.
