BOM predicts low will move away from coast

THE tropical low that had Queenslanders fearing it could morph into the state's first cyclone for 2015 has weakened and is expected to move further away from the coast in coming days.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Janine Yuasa said on Tuesday that the low was currently in the central-eastern area of the Coral Sea.

The BoM has deemed the likelihood of a tropical cyclone developing off the Queensland coast over the next three days as low to very low.

Ms Yuasa said the only impact the low would have on Queensland was possible increased swells off the coast, but nothing noteworthy.

She expects the trough that pummelled Birdsville and western Queensland to head south-east and Toowoomba and Ipswich to see rain late Wednesday afternoon or evening.
