Blue ribbon night for Blue Care

BLUE uniforms were nowhere to be seen on one special night for 63 dedicated individuals.

Blue Care employees were honoured at the Blue Care Staff Recognition Night for their dedication to the organisation in Brisbane on November 3.

The staff gathered from all over Queensland and northern New South Wales in their glamorous attire to celebrate their devotion to their communities.

Blue Care Lockyer Respite Care personal carer Sue Martin has given 20 years of her life to Blue Care and was honoured to receive the award.

"I really enjoy working with our clients every day," she said.

"They are the reason I'm there, they are just wonderful."

Blue Care executive director Robyn Batten said 20 years commitment from the each of the 63 staff makes them a valuable addition to their communities.

"Together these staff have dedicated more than two million hours delivering care to support to Australians in need," she said.

The awards night also recognised 35 services where staff showed amazing courage, resilience and innovation during the Queensland natural disasters in January.

Ms Batten said the Blue Care staff were a major contribution to the flood recovery.

"This was a devastating time for so many and yet throughout it, there were acts of courage and selflessness as Blue Care staff in communities across the state did what they could for people in their care and for friends, families and even strangers," she said.

"These staff truly went above and beyond the call of duty during very testing times and it's important we acknowledge their tremendous efforts."
