Blue care lends a hand
IF you are caring for a frail elderly family member or a younger person with a disability at home, Blue Care Lockyer Community Care Centre may be able to assist with a range of services.
Blue Care Lockyer Community Care Centre Service Manager Elaine Horrocks said as a provider of quality compassionate care services, Blue Care offered an In-home Respite Program that gave carers a well-earned break from their caring role.
“A Blue Care staff member attends the home and stays while the carer has time out to have a rest, go shopping or attend appointments,” Ms Horrocks said.
“Care is generally available between 7am and 6pm, however special requests can be met.
“Staff will attend to meals, toileting and hygiene care, and provided the person is well enough, can assist with craft, board games, reading, letter writing, cooking or other activities if desired.”
Blue Care Lockyer also hosts a Centre Based Respite Program five days a week, with care provided at either Gatton Senior Citizens Hall or Laidley Lutheran Hall.
“Centre Based Respite provides opportunities for meeting with other people, taking part in activities, and generally socialising with others. It also offers carers time out while their loved one receives the very best of care.”
