Seven-week-old baby tortured: Biloela man charged

A 22-year-old Biloela man has been charged with eight charges including torture and assault after a seven-week-old baby boy presented to Biloela Hospital on May 24.

Police commenced investigations after the baby was presented to hospital with a number of injuries including several fractures to his body.

The baby has been released from hospital.

Detectives from the Gladstone Child Protection and Investigation Unit charged the man with six counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count each of torture and failing to provide the necessities.

He is due to face Biloela Magistrates Court on July 20.
