Big Day Out ready to move to new and exciting venue

THE Big Day Out will leave its traditional home of the Gold Coast Parklands to set up its tents at Metricon Stadium.

The beloved music festival, held in the same space since 1994, had to hire the movers to make way for the Commonwealth Games athlete's village planned for the site.

In January this year, 45,000 attended the festival - headlined by Red Hot Chili Peppers - pumping about $30 million into the Coast's economy.

Concert chief executive Adam Zammit said he and founder Ken West were both excited for the new venue and the "biggest and best line-up in years" for 2014.
