Bennett to add Blair to his Broncos

WAYNE Bennett's unmatched ability to revitalise a player's NRL career could pay massive dividends for Brisbane and for Wests Tigers Kiwi international forward Adam Blair.

Blair was tremendous in New Zealand's 22-18 Four Nations final upset over Australia last weekend.

But the 28-year-old's club form for the Tigers had copped a battering given his high price tag did not match his performances.

The Tigers not surprisingly have released Blair from the final year of his contract with the Broncos confirming they've signed the experienced hard man on a three-year deal.

Blair will be Bennett's Jeremy Smith, the tough-as-teak Kiwi forward he relied on for intimidation and toughness during their premiership-winning stint together at St George-Illawarra and who he took to Newcastle with him.

With 30 Tests on his resume and weighing an imposing 111kg, he is the type of player Bennett needs to add some aggression and mongrel to his pack next season.

"Adam is highly experienced at both NRL and representative level," said Broncos chief executive Paul White.

"He'll bring a toughness and leadership to our squad."

Bennett has always been a fan of the way New Zealand plays the game, so much so he teamed up with the Kiwis in their 2008 World Cup win which Blair was a part of.

If Bennett can get the best out of Blair he could prove to be the enforcer they've lacked for several seasons, since losing players such as Tonie Carroll and Petero Civoniceva.
