Barnaby Joyce spotted at Sunshine Coast beer launch

The first test batch of Lion's Eumundi Lager was poured at the Imperial Hotel Eumundi tonight, and surprise visitor Barnaby Joyce was among the taste testers.

Lion announced its decision to revive the Eumundi Lager brand late last year, much to the delight of locals at the Sunshine Coast hinterland town.

A brewery will be re-established at the Imperial next year, but a select group of locals tonight were invited to try out the first, unfiltered, keg.

In less than an hour, the 120-schooner keg was empty: a happy sign, says legendary master brewer Chuck Hahn (of Hanh beer fame).

He was on site to talk to locals and gauge their opinion - and that of their palate, after overseeing brewer Allan Tilden's first attempt at recreating Eumundi Lager at a pilot brewery in Camperdown, New South Wales.

Lion also owns Hahn, James Squire, and  XXXX.
