Bail decision soon for balcony murder accused

Warriena "Rrie" Tagpuno Wright

AN ACCUSED murderer who fled his home after a woman fell from his apartment balcony will find out on Wednesday if he will be released on bail.

Gable Tostee has been in custody since he was charged with New Zealand woman Warriena Tagpuno Wright's murder in August.

In the Brisbane Supreme Court on Tuesday, Crown prosecutor Ben Power said after Ms Wright fell, Mr Tostee left his Surfers Paradise apartment then sought his father's help to evade police.

But defence barrister Soraya Ryan said Mr Tostee described the incident as the worst he had ever felt.

She said he was remorseful for her death, although he denies murdering her, and wanted to clear his name.

Justice Debra Mullins will hand down her decision about the bail application in the Brisbane Supreme Court on Wednesday morning.
