Azarenka excited to play in upcoming Brisbane International
WORLD No.1 Victoria Azarenka heads an all-star cast for January's Brisbane International.
Azarenka, the inaugural winner of the tournament in 2009, is part of the strongest ever field at the event, with eight of the top 10 women confirmed for the event.
Also headed for Queensland is Australian favourite Samantha Stosur, currently ranked ninth, world No. 2 Maria Sharapova, world No.3 Serena Williams, Angelique Kerber, ranked five in the world, Sara Errani, who is number six, world No.8 Petra Kvitova and former world no.1 Caroline Wozniacki, who now rounds out the world's top 10.
"I am really looking forward to returning to Brisbane," Azarenka said.
"The city is beautiful, the venue is first class and I thoroughly enjoyed playing there in 2009 when I won the inaugural title."
This will be Azarenka's first visit to Brisbane since capturing the women's singles in 2009 with a straight sets win over French woman Marion Bartoli.
In the men's event US Open champion Andy Murray has been confirmed as too has Lleyton Hewitt.
