The Avalanches pull plug on live broadcast of Splendour set
THE Avalanches' first show in more than a decade just got a lot more exclusive.
The band has pulled the plug on Triple J broadcasting its set live from Splendour in the Grass tonight.
Triple J's Richard Kingsmill made the announcement just after 7pm, two hours before the band is due to take the main stage.
He read a statement from the band's record label EMI, which explained The Avalanches want to focus on putting on a good show for the 20,000 festival goers without worrying about the live broadcast.
"It's their first proper live show in 15 years and the band wants their sole focus to be on putting on a great show in front of 20,000 people. Sorry triple j and everyone out there in radio land," said John O'Donnell from EMI.
Kingsmill said Triple J will still record the show with the hopes of getting permission to broadcast it at a later date.
