Aussie offensive linesman finds fourth NFL club

GRIDIRON: The well-travelled 12-month career of Australian offensive lineman Blake Muir has found a new home ahead of the 2017 season, with the Sydney product signing with the Indianapolis Colts, the team announced.

Muir had previously spent time with the San Francisco 49ers, the Green Bay Packers and was a practice squad member for a good proportion of the Atlanta Falcons' run to the Super Bowl, before joining the AFC South hopefuls this week.

Muir knows all too well the business side of the NFL, particularly for an undrafted guard, as he lands with team number four in just over a year in the league.

Interestingly, the Colts offence he joins - headlined by Andrew Luck and standout wide receiver T.Y. Hilton - is in a similar situation to the Falcons of a few years ago; exceptionally talented at skill positions, but in need of stability on the offensive line to let their young franchise quarterback produce.

Muir will have the opportunity to compete for a roster spot with an offensive line group that has been much maligned over recent years, along with the team's 2017 fourth round draft pick Zach Banner.
