THIS week's blog is of a 2009 Audi R8 coated in a beautiful shade of pearl effect daytona grey.
This particular model features a mid-rear mounted 4.2-litre, 32-valve V8 engine that can produce up to 309kW (414 hp) at 7800rpm and 430Nm of torque (317 ft-lbs of torque) at 6000rpm.
This is the same engine that is also featured in the Audi B7 RS4.
Connected to this engine is a six-speed automated-manual transmission, with paddle shifters behind the steering wheel for manual control over the gearbox.
The 2009 Audi R8 with it's mighty V8 engine is able to launch from 0-100 kilometres per hour in just 4.6 seconds, and it will keep accelerating until it reaches it's top speed of 300 kilometres per hour (187 miles per hour).
Audi first launched the R8 back in 2006 as a new two-seat sports car with everyday practicality.
It has a spacious cabin, comfortable suspension and one of the largest boots in its class. But since it's practical don't underestimate the ferociousness of this beast, as it can turn from a tamed tiger to a raging lion with a touch of the throttle.
The R8 was initially based on the Lamborghini Gallardo, but then Audi has added its own engine, interior and bodywork. Hardly any parts apart from the chassis are from Lamborghini when she leaves the factory.
Some other features that this particular Audi R8 is equipped with includes variable intermittent rain sensing wipers, an electronically raising rear spoiler, 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in performance tyres, double-wishbone front and rear suspension, a front and rear stabiliser bar, four-wheel ABS as well as traction and stability control, dusk-sensing and self-levelling xenon headlights, daytime running LEDs (as seen in the front facing picture), electronic brake force distribution, a post-collision safety system, a leather interior with sport seats, carbon fibre interior trim, satellite navigation and much more.
You can currently buy a similarly specced 2009 Audi R8 for approximately $160,000 AUD.
