Are these alleged drink drivers Bundaberg's Dumb and Dumber?

POLICE have been left flabbergasted at the stupidity of two mates who both returned blood alcohol readings more than three times the legal limit after being caught driving the same car on the same night.

The 24-year-old driver was charged with high-range drink driving and unlicensed driving before his 26-year-old passenger allegedly ignored police directions not to drive, got behind the wheel and caused a crash in Bundaberg.

Childers police first intercepted the four-wheel drive on Woodgate Rd about 8.30pm Saturday where the 24-year-old driver returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.199.

The Bundaberg man was charged with drink driving and unlicensed driving and taken to the Bundaberg Police Station.

Childers Police Senior Constable Josh Roberts said the male passenger, who was also observed to be intoxicated, was given specific instructions not to drive and the four-wheel-drive was parked in a safe location.

But a short time later the 26-year-old Jindalee man was found by police driving the same four-wheel-drive when it crashed into the back of a car in Barolin St.

Bundaberg Police attended and charged him with drink driving after he returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.172.

The 26-year-old man was also charged with unlicensed driving.

Snr Const Roberts labelled the drivers actions, in particular the passenger's, as "completely idiotic".
