Anglo American head to visit CQ mines

THE global head of mining giant Anglo American will tour parts of Central Queensland on Tuesday as part of his first Australian visit since taking on the role in April.

Mark Cutifani will visit the Moranbah North underground mine west of Mackay, followed by a visit to the $1.7 billion Grosvenor project currently under construction nearby.

The visit will then see him head to the Dawson mine in Moura, south west of Rockhampton and Gladstone.

Anglo American owns and runs six metallurgical coal mines - used for making steel - and another two which mine thermal or energy coal for producing electricity.

Mr Cutifani is not expected to visit Anglo's Capcoal mines near Middlemount, where its Aquila underground mine is being wound down.
