Angie proves she's a cut above
ANGIE Nicholls has cut, coloured and styled her way through the hairdressing industry for the past 20 years.
Achieving many awards during her career, it is Ms Nicholls' latest accolade that went down as her biggest career highlight to date.
The owner of Tannum Sands hairdressing salon Angie's Hair Graphics earned a commendable second in the Open High Fashion Team Collection category at the IHS Queensland State Hairdressing Competition staged in Brisbane on August 28.
Up against the best hairdressers in Queensland, Ms Nicholls was ecstatic with the placing which was based on her results in the Men's Catwalk, Ladies' Catwalk and Ladies' Colour Section.
She was joined in Brisbane by her young apprentices Kali Miers and Courtney Watt, who were also competing in numerous categories following their success at the Gladstone Mini Hairdressing Competition.
"It was pretty exciting," Ms Nicholls said. "This is the biggest achievement for me at a state level.
"I am so proud of the girls.
"They were competing against senior hairdressers.
"It was a good experience and great training for them."
Ms Nicholls said the competition proved they were pretty much on par with the styles and colours of their city counterparts.
And while the national hairdressing titles could possibly beckon Ms Nicholls in October, she is still undecided whether she might attend as a spectator or competitor.
