SAN Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has become one of the league's highest-paid players, signing a six-year deal worth $A136 million, according to NFL Network.

That's a serious pay rise after he earned a "measly" $1.16 million in the final year of his rookie deal last season.
