‘Amazing father’ dies in freak accident
THE man tragically killed in a freak accident has been remembered as an "amazing father" with a love for adventure.
Stephen Taylor died yesterday in shocking circumstances when a large brick wall collapsed and crushed him against his 4WD.
Friends and family have taken to social media with an outpouring of grief and tributes for the young man, many still trying to come to terms with the shock, Townsville Bulletin reports.
Close friend Amber McCracken said. she would never understand how or why this tragedy happened.
Ms McCracken told The Bulletin Stephen would live on through his young son, James.
"He was a dedicated dad who was always up for an adventure," she said.
"He would of helped anyone, anytime, anywhere.
"His love and sense of adventure will forever live on through his son and those who knew him and got to experience and see for themselves the amazing father and person he was."
The 25-year-old was believed to be working on his 4WD out the front of his Carthew St residence, Kirwan about 1pm yesterday when a large brick wall collapsed and pinned him against the car.
A motorists driving by saw the fence collapse and attempted to administer first aide but Mr Taylor had died.
Family and friends of the deceased arrived at the house throughout the afternoon, clearly distraught by the tragedy.
Police are not treating the incident as suspicious but Townsville Police Regional Duty Officer Darren Randall said a report would be prepared for the coroner.
