Alleged drink driver sideswipes police officer
POLICE have charged a man with drink driving after his vehicle hit a police officer.
At about 7.10 on Tuesday night, officers from Sunshine Coast Road Policing Command were performing speed enforcement on the westbound lanes of Maroochydore Road, Kuluin.
They stopped one vehicle and were issuing a traffic infringement notice to the driver.
Police allege another vehicle has veered across the lane and the mirror of the vehicle has struck the officer in his side. Police stopped the vehicle further along Maroochydore Road.
A 54-year-old Nambour man has been charged with one count of mid-range drink driving and one count of careless driving.
He is due to appear in the Nambour Magistrates Court on January 15.
