ITALIAN brand Alfa Romeo has applied to the heat to its MiTo hatch.

Starting from $30,500, the Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde is now in showrooms.

While labelled a "hot hatch", it's more likely to fall into the "warm hatch" brigade with a 1.4-litre MultiAir turbo engine, which develops maximum power of 125kW at 5500rpm and peak torque of 250Nm at 2500rpm.

The Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde can sprint from 0-100kmh in 7.5 seconds.

The Quadrifoglio Verde has more sporting touches than the regular MiTo, including a glossy grille and door mirrors, special rear bumper and spoiler, as well as twin chrome exhaust pipes, 18-inch alloys and quintessential four-leaf clover emblem.

It comes with a flat-bottom sports steering wheel, is trimmed in black leather with white stitching - as is the handbrake lever and gear shifter. The sports seats are finished in black trim with white and green stitching. 

Also on the standard features list is a "carbon look" dash, special floor mats and aluminum kick plates, 12.7cm touch-screen with Uconnect system, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity with text reader and voice controls.
