Council will push for a casino at Airlie Beach

WHITSUNDAY Regional Council will make a push to develop a casino and integrated resort at Airlie Beach as part of its new Corporate Plan 2014-2019 - Whitsunday 2020.

Mayor Jennifer Whitney said the plan was developed after extensive community consultation.

"Whitsunday 2020 sets out council's strategic objectives for the next five years and provides a platform from which its performance can be measured," she said.

In addition to the casino, the plan includes development of the Whitsunday Coast International Hub and advocates construction of the Urannah Dam, the implementation of the Bruce Hwy action plan and continued development of the Port of Abbot Point and state development area.
