A GOOD Samaritan, who rushed to the aid of two Mehfil Indian Restaurant employees being attacked in the Ipswich Mall, says he hopes someone would do the same for him.
Chef Tinku and restaurant manager Jasan Singh were being attacked at 9.45pm on Friday by two youths, one of whom had a knife.
That was when Adam, who does not want his surname published, stopped his car and raced to the scene.
He gave an account to the QT of what happened.
"I was driving back through town when Jasan, who was the gentleman who rushed to help his mate, ran straight in front of my car," Adam said.
"When someone is running a million miles an hour they are either running away from someone or to somewhere.
"I slowed down to have a look and I saw one guy on the floor and two beating him up.
"I saw Jasan run down to give him a hand so I slowed down to see if I could give a hand in any shape or form.
"When I got into the mall Jasan had it defused. The (attackers) saw me and the police coming down the mall and pooped themselves a bit.
"I do first aid with my work and the fellow (Tinku) on the floor said the guys that had attacked him had knives.
"He was checking himself over and then I saw Jasan had some blood coming from his back and a bit of a puncture.
"I was there to help if something kicked off again.
"I see it as a human thing to do. You see someone in trouble and you want to help. I hope that someone would do the same for me."
Both alleged offenders, aged 16 and 17, were quickly apprehended by police.
Inspector Keith McDonald said Adam's actions were outstanding.
"He is to be commended for his actions," Insp McDonald said.
"He didn't sit idly by and wait for something to happen. He became involved and assured the safety of the two gentlemen.
"He is to be commended for putting his life at risk as well.
"Police also responded quickly to the incident and that is a positive as well."
Adam said Mr Singh was the person he admired
"To me the hero of all this is Jasan," he said.
"He came flying down to help his buddy and took a knife in the back for his mate.
"I have utmost respect for that man right now."
Mr Singh returned the complement.
"I appreciate Adam's help. He was the only one to show any initiative," he said.
