Aaliyah shows she’s got the X Factor

A TALENTED young Mackay performer has passed through the first round of auditions onto hit TV series The X Factor.

Fourteen-year-old Aaliyah Warren, who came second in the Mackay's Got Talent finals at the weekend, will be flown to Sydney later this month to show off her talents in front of high profile judges, including Ronan Keating, Guy Sebastian and Natalie Bassingthwaighte.

"I'm pretty nervous because the auditions are on TV but I'm pretty excited too," she said.

Ms Warren auditioned in Townsville in December and was waiting on a phone call to see if she'd made it to the next stage.

A few weeks ago, she received that life-changing call.

"I thought I didn't do very well," she said. "But they gave me a call back."

The Townsville audition wasn't very daunting, she said.

The judges asked her questions "and the executive producer said I had a beautiful voice" she said.

Ms Warren will sing I Found a Boy, by Adele, which had to be approved by organisers. She also sang this at her Townsville audition.

The teen is no stranger to performing. Ms Warren impressed judges with her unique voice and on-stage presence when she took second place at the Mackay's Got Talent final, which was held on Sunday at the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre.

She was up against 11 other acts and performed her own piece, which was inspired by Adele's song Someone Like You.
