Cedar Pocket headless corpse killer might be female

A WOMAN, aged 30 to 50 years, with short, light brown hair, is the lead suspect in the Cedar Pocket headless corpse investigation.

Police say the woman was seen standing next to where rural fire fighters found the dismembered torso on September 19.

Detective Inspector Bruce McNab said she had also been seen with "an orange to bronze compact vehicle, possibly a hatchback," which several witnesses noticed at the Cedar Pocket Rd crime scene.

Firefighters stumbled on the headless torso of a man, aged between 25 and 35 years, while extinguishing a roadside grass fire.

Insp McNab said there was no evidence the victim had a criminal past and he appealed to all citizens to search their memories for anyone who may have disappeared recently.

"People tend to think it is a dispute among criminals and therefore, they would not know such a person," he said.

He was "a fair lump of a bloke", 180-190cm tall and 109cm around the chest.
