Man charged over $75,000 karting club theft

A TOOWOOMBA man has been charged over a $75,000 fraud of a state karting association.

Police charged former Australian Karting Association of Queensland treasurer John Michael Lane on Sunday with offences allegedly committed in 2010 and 2011.

Four unauthorised cheques to the total value of $75,000 will be the basis of the police case.

The 50-year-old Cranley man has been charged with six counts of stealing as an officer of a company and four counts of entering false records.

He is due to front Toowoomba Magistrates Court on December 3.
