A real family affair

ADRIAN Sippel is ready for another Ma Ma Creek Exhibition.

This local show will celebrate its 76th year on Saturday, July 23 and Adrian has been part of every one since 1955.

Adrian's parents, Evie and Colin Sippel, moved to Ma Ma Creek in 1950.

When Adrian's older brother Wayne started at Ma Ma Creek School in 1955, Evie first became involved with the Exhibition, and worked over the years as a steward for the Flowers and Cooking and in the kitchen, while Colin provided entries in the Farm Produce sections.

Evie continued to submit entries in needlework and cooking until the age of 82, two years before her death in 2009.

At the age of 17, as soon as he bought his first car, Adrian began attending Exhibition meetings, becoming Treasurer in 1980 (a position he still holds today).

Adrian believes that the Ma Ma Creek Exhibition is about Community, getting to know your neighbours with friendly competition, and enjoying yourself during both the day and night.

Funds raised at the Exhibition help to support the Ma Ma Creek Community Centre and Fordsdale School of Arts, the Ma Ma Creek State School and Mt Whitestone State School.
