LETTER: Our new police officers look like pack horses
JUST looking at the photo of Constable Mairead Devlin (Sunshine Coast Daily, May 23), I am amazed to see all the equipment he has to carry and obviously what is needed to keep the peace in the world we live in today.
I recall the police in the UK were able to achieve it during my younger years with a notepad and pencil and of course the obligatory truncheon.
Let's also not forget the helmet to protect their heads.
I suppose technology has to move with the times but lord knows how you can move much at speed carrying that lot.
Constable Mairead Devlin, I wish you all the very best for your future and admire your bravery.
