Detectives seize thousands of cannabis plants at Moogerah

DETECTIVES from the State Crime Command's Drug and Serious Crime Group have seized over 8,000 cannabis plants from a property at Moogerah near Brisbane.

A search warrant was executed on a property on Revill Road today where officers located the crop and an irrigation system.

Detective Superintendent Jon Wacker said today while the crop was not particularly sophisticated in setup, the number of plants located represents a good haul.

"We will allege the plants, which ranged from small to medium in size, were grown from seedlings," he said.

"Detectives also discovered a basic irrigation system had been established to water the crop via a buried pipe which was pumping water from a nearby dam.

"In total, 8702 were discovered, most of which have now been destroyed."

Police said a 54-year-old man is currently assisting with their inquiries.
