Australia Post cleared of wrongdoing by the ACCC

A REPORT from the competition watchdog has confirmed Australia Post has not been using its monopoly over letter services to cross-subsidise its other products.

The ninth report on the issue confirmed the postal service was not using its letter monopoly to pay for its other services, which are open to competition.

It confirms, despite concerns about the use of a cross-subsidy in 2012-13, the postal service has not used the practice in more recent times.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has been analysing Australia Post's financial records to check up on cross-subsidies in the business since 2004.
