72-year-old man charged with alleged murder of Coast woman

GOLD Coast detectives have charged a 72-year-old man over the alleged homicide of a woman yesterday morning in Southport.

Police were called to a residence on Tuesley Street at around 7am, where it will be alleged they located the deceased body of a 69-year-old Southport woman.

It will be further alleged that she died as a result of a number of stab wounds.

A 72-year-old man was also located at the residence with serious stab wounds and was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

The 72-year-old Southport man has been charged with one count of murder and will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court this morning.
