$40,000 gets Lockyer back on track
FEDERAL Member for Wright, Scott Buchholz, whose electorate represents the flood devastated area of Lockyer Valley was handed a cheque for $40,000.
On February 3, Mr Buchholz attended a major fund-raiser dinner for the benefit of the Lockyer Valley area.
It was arranged by Michael Tabart, Executive Director of Wine Industry Network, and hosted by Gabriele Saccardo, owner of ‘La Scalia' at Altoona.
This event was heavily promoted on Canberra 2CA as the special guests were former English cricket captain Sir Ian Botham and Australian cricket spin bowler Stuart MacGill.
With over 170 people attending the dinner to show their support, the intent was send the money raised directly into the local flood appeal account to ensure the funds raised went directly into the community affected.
Mr Buchholz was grateful and thanked the organisers on behalf of the Lockyer Valley who have managed to ease some of the financial burden some of the residents in Lockyer Valley currently face.
“This money will go a long way as the Lockyer Valley continues to recover, to return a level of normalcy that they deserve,” Mr Buchholz said.
