
Driver who died in Peak Downs Hwy crash named
UPDATE:
POLICE are continuing to investigate the cause of a crash in which former Moranbah State High School student Adam Cazzola died on Saturday night.
The 24-year-old was travelling on the Peak Down's Hwy when his sedan collided with a ute, at about 8.50pm, police said.
Mr Cazzola died at the scene, and the 48-year-old ute driver was taken to Moranbah Hospital with "non-life-threatening injuries".
EARLIER:
THE Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a two-vehicle fatal traffic crash near Moranbah, west of Mackay last night.
About 8.50pm last night a sedan and ute were involved in the crash on the Peak Downs Highway, about 25km west of Moranbah Access Rd.
The driver and sole occupant of the sedan, a 24-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 48-year-old male driver of the ute was transported to Moranbah Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The highway was closed for several hours while the vehicles were removed.
Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
